YARPP Pro for WordPress

The following are FAQs about the new YARPP Pro enhancements available in the Yet Another Related Posts Plugin for WordPress. For common questions about YARPP Basic, please visit the YARPP Basic FAQ page.

No. YARPP Basic and YARPP Pro can now be used simultaneously. Turning off one version only hides it, and does not delete its settings.
Our system must first crawl your site, analyze your content and determine “relatedness,” so it might take up to an hour after enabling YARPP Pro before related content displays on your site. Please contact us if you still don’t see any related content after that time.
Not specifically. YARPP Pro uses a more refined semantic analysis on each page of your site to find related content.
Unlike YARPP Basic, YARPP Pro does not require WordPress featured images, although it may be helpful to assign them to your posts. YARPP Pro analyzes your content and attempts to pull out an associated image.
No. You can choose among several square sizes for thumbnail display, and also override the thumbnail our system chooses.
You can log into your account, edit the domain settings, and set another image for that page, as well as default images for your site in general, which will be used if a page-specific image cannot be found.
With YARPP Pro enabled, related content will only be shown beneath an article at this time, but you can use the UI settings to customize the layout. There is also a new flexible YARPP Pro widget which will allow you to display relevant sponsored content in your site's sidebar. (See next entry.)
There is a new sidebar widget (see above entry) but it only displays third-party sponsored content. YARPP Pro does not display in RSS feeds at this time.
Currently, every WordPress page that contains our widget will be available for display as related content.
Yes. In YARPP’s Settings in WordPress, add your domains in the YARPP Pro section, and make sure that you verify them. Once they’re verified, those sites will be in your pool of possible related content. Please note: All domains must reside within the same user account. Please do not set up multiple accounts for each of your domains.
YARPP Pro will try to serve up related content for themes and plugins using custom post types but the content relevancy may vary.
Yes. Since YARPP Pro analyzes each page and calculates recommendations externally, your particular database engine is irrelevant.
YARPP Pro currently works best on sites with English content. For non-English sites, a different algorithm will be used to display recommended content, and no sponsored ad content will be displayed on those sites at this time.
If you are using the YARPP Pro "Recommendations" widget, you need to display a minimum of 25% sponsored ad content. If you are using one of the new sidebar widgets, all content is sponsored ad content.
Participating advertisers pay a fee when YARPP Pro generates traffic to their sites. As a participating publisher, you will receive a share of this revenue. See the Payment section of the Publisher Terms and Conditions for more details.
Our ad inventory uses the same relevancy algorithm as your site’s related posts. Ad relevancy will continue to improve over time.
Payments are made by check approximately 30 days after the end of every calendar month, if you have unpaid earnings of at least $50.
If you have already created an account, please submit your question through our contact us page.
First, create a sidebar widget using the YARPP Pro dashboard in WordPress. Copy the Widget ID that you are given. Then, go to the WordPress "Widgets" page and select "YARPP Pro" in the "Related Posts (YARPP)" widget, and paste the Widget ID into the textbox.

Recommended content can now be shown beneath an article as well as in your site's sidebar. After configuring a widget, you will be given the correct JavaScript code to use on your pages.
Every page on your site that contains our widget will be available for display as recommended content. If you want to exclude certain pages for appearing as recommended content, just remove the code from those pages. Doing this will also prevent recommended content from displaying on those pages.

Advertiser Questions

Your ads will be displayed on relevant blogs and websites of publishers who have also partnered with YARPP recommendation engine.
Yes. When setting up an initial account, simply select Both from the Account Type drop down. This will provide you with both the publisher and advertiser features. If you initially sign up exclusively as a publisher or as an advertiser, you can always add the other through your account dashboard.
Log into your account, click on Campaigns, and then click the Add New Campaign button. Once you fill out the required information (campaign name, start date, daily budget, bid amount), you can add one or more ads to that campaign.
For headlines, be brief and informative. Headlines using “How To…” and “Top 10 Reasons…” are examples of content that generally engages viewers. Make sure your headline is not misleading, contains correct spelling and punctuation and avoids ALL CAPS.
For images, make sure the thumbnails are clear and eye-catching at small sizes. They should be equal width and height, and not stretched or squeezed in one dimension. Because publishers may opt for the larger sidebar widget, we recommend that advertisers upload images that are 400 px by 400 px for the best display. Also, photos of people or products usually grab a viewer’s attention better than diagrams or logos.
The minimum bid for a campaign is $0.05.
At this time, you can only enter a bid amount for your campaigns.
On the main Campaigns page, you can see columns for Daily Budget, Daily Spend and Remaining Budget among others.
These are parameters, such as utm_source=spring2014, that will be added to all ads in one particular campaign, to help make tracking easier for you.
It is possible by adding UTM codes at either the campaign level or to individual ad URLs. In the "Edit Campaign" screen, there is a field for "Tracking Parameters." If you use “utm_source=yarpp” (for example), you’ll be able to see the results in Google Analytics if you filter by source.
On the Campaigns page, click the Edit button next to the campaign you wish to pause. Change Active from Yes to No. Click Update Campaign.

At this time, there is no way to pause multiple campaigns at once.
